Travel Writing

As my Travel Writing course comes to an end I am rather sad yet thrilled about all the new and exciting knowledge I have to bring forward in my blog writing! The course has been a great learning experience; I feel honored to have gotten my travel stories read and critiqued by the delightful, Vivien Lougheed!

I was absolutely thrilled the day I saw in my local newspaper that the college I attended was offering a Travel Writing course, things like this never seem to happen in my small town! Needless to say I signed up and anticipated my first class with little to no idea what to expect, other than writing about travel.

Vivien was a wonderful and knowledgeable teacher; she definitely has a lot of writing under her belt, so it was a great pleasure to share my travel stories with her.  The others in my class were exceptional as well. Their stories were brilliant and we always had a great time in class sharing some of our own personal travel experiences.

After this class I can’t stress enough that taking a travel writing, blogging, etc. course in your own city is so worth it. Talking, sharing, networking and/or even just hanging out with people that have at least one of the same passions as you is bound to be an enjoyable time!

I would love to take a travel writing course someday too! And, mostly, I just want to write and travel. :) There’s a travel writing scholarship + expedition up for grabs —, in case you’re interested. Best of luck to you, and happy travels!

Right? :) I am glad I am not alone on that!

I am always happy to see a fellow Canadian stopping by the blog, even though you are originally from Australia. :) I to have a lot of traveling around Canada on my ‘to-do’ list, maybe we will cross paths! Happy & safe travels!

Everyone is going to Africa. I can’t go, not right now anyway. So I plucked a book off the shelf about studying elephants in Zambia instead. I wish the authors had been with Dawn studying writing before s/he wrote the book. Dawn — you know – abstracts, telling, misplaced modifiers — made me look for the chocolate icecream in the fridge. Keep writing – and getting better and better, like a basketball player.

You are too kind Vivien. :) I wish that I was going to Africa but it’s not realistic for me at this moment. If you do end up finding a good book on Africa, before you run out of ice cream in the fridge, please share. I would love to read a good book on Africa!
