Travel Bingo Games for Wanderlusters
For too long, people have called bingo a hobby only played by grandmothers, but in recent years it has resurged as a favorite pastime for Millennials, especially among young women. According to Horslaga, every four out of five female gamblers are bingo players, which isn’t all that surprising given all the shopping sprees and travel related prizes that bingo companies continue to promote to their clientele.
Although many women would throw themselves at the chance to splurge on new clothes, the chance to have an all-expenses paid holiday is something definitely deemed as a once in a lifetime. Earlier this year, the popular UK gaming portal Gala Bingo rolled out several promotions, including a Las Vegas Vacation giveaway that encouraged more gameplay for its players. Because of rewards like this, bingo is more popular than ever and has even influenced others, inside and outside of the gaming industry, to engage with their respective audiences. Looking at all the customized games out there, from Workout Bingo to Fashion Week Bingo, there doesn’t seem to be a shortage of ways bingo transcends into our lives, especially for those who have been infected with the travel bug.
Of course, the number one purpose of bingo to is to provide entertainment, but the game also adds something a little extra special spice for wanderlusters. Here are three games that you should consider playing:
Travel Bingo #1
Travel Bingo can be played in two ways. The first is destination specific and manifests as something along the lines of a scavenger hunt. Instead of the numbers, list down and randomize the attractions in and around the city you’re visiting. Check off the corresponding box once you’ve explored the site, and make sure you’ve taken a photo as evidence. You can also turn the game into a competition with your travel companions, where the winner can be treated to dinner or drinks that night.
Travel Bingo #2
The second variation of Travel Bingo is more like a bucket list that can be tailored in many ways. Those embarking on a big Eurotrip can fill out their cards with cities they’d like to visit. Another way to customize this card is by listing down all the activities you’d like to accomplish in your life. Examples could include Skiing in the French Alps, Swimming with the Oslob Whale Sharks in Cebu, Philippines, and Visiting Salar de Uyuni (Salt Flat) in Potosí, Bolivia. Other ideas include the different beaches you’d like to see or slopes you’d like to conquer.
One thing that travelers are unfortunately not immune to is the inevitability of a flight delay, which wouldn’t be all that bad if all airports were as fun as Singapore’s Changi Airport (a slide in an airport? Yes please!). Although lots of travel bloggers have their own funny versions of the game to combat the boredom, Thomas Cook has a modern bingo card that even includes a selfie stick as one of the items. And as usual, games are better when played with friends, so make sure buy the winner a meal afterwards.
