The Most Romantic Place in the World!!

Okay… maybe not in the whole world but a truly amazing place where I experienced the most romantic moment since I began traveling.

You might be wondering what I am talking about.

This place isn’t necessarily romantic for its location, it’s more so what comes out at night when you are there…

Sleeping out in the jungle, right by the Mayan Ruin site of Palenque, Mexico, in tiny little bungalows was a really neat experience. The part that made this place so romantic was…

Fireflies.

Thomas and I had never seen fireflies before so it completely caught us off guard and took our breath away. I sat on Thomas’ lap on one tiny little chair on the front porch and just watched. In that moment I was completely captivated by these tiny little beings flying all around and above us. Tears started to soak my eyes and run down my cheeks, I just couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

Fireflies are such strange little creatures; I have seen them a few times now throughout my adventures in Central America. Each time is the same, they completely enamour me.

What is the most romantic experience you have had while traveling? Or, where is the most romantic place you have traveled?

My first experience with fireflies was in Ohio, sitting on my sister’s deck at dusk. All of a sudden the air was filled with tiny, dancing lights. How magical! – Fawn

They are all over the place there! I have seen them in Guatemala, Nicaragua and Costa Rica so far! :D I bet they are in more places as well, I usually see them in the jungles. :)

Where are you going in Central America? I am extremely jealous, Central America is my second home (not literally). <3

Maybe I take fireflies for granted. Growing up in the American South, my summers were filled with catching what we called lightening bugs. We have a few here and there at dusk during the summer. I do love how something I consider to be simple is such a special romantic thing for you. I would agree with you if it wasn’t something I’ve seen so many times. It’s a simple but great joy to see those little lights flicker.

Did you put them in a glass bottle and use them as a light? Haha, I have always pictured someone doing that. I think they are such interesting creatures, so tiny and strange yet so beautiful! Maybe this summer when you see them you’ll think of the joy and love others have for these tiny little bugs! :D Thanks for stopping by my page & leaving a comment! :)
